Song of the Week: The Birdwatchers - You Got It

The Birdwatchers hailed from Miami Tampa, Florida before relocating to Miami and recorded a number of singles on a handful of labels. They released You Got It, co-written by the keyboardist, Bobby Puccetti, for the local Scott Records in July of 1967. Sammy Hall does the heavy lifting on the vocals.

  1. Minor point of correction, the band actually hailed from Tampa but moved to Miami to record. Good stuff.

  2. I remember this song when it won a "Battle of the Bands" on WLCY 1380 AM (St. Petersburg, Florida) way back in the late 1960's. Another rare song that I am waiting for to be uploaded is the Florida garage band classic, "You Don't Need A Reason" by Proctor Amusement Company. This particular version of the song charted at #23 for the week of January 20, 1968 on WYND 1280 AM (Sarasota, Florida). Does anyone have this rare 45 rpm record?

    1. Johnwoa - I picked up a copy of the Proctor Amusement Company 45 you mention and I like it quite a bit. I'll drop a note here when I get a chance to put it up.
