Video Diary: The Chocolate Watchband, "Sitting There, Standing"

The Chocolate Watchband perform Sitting There, Standing as seen in the 1967 movie, Riot on Sunset Strip. The video/audio sync blows, but you get the picture.

  1. This is actually the CWB doing "Sitting There Standing", which is a nice little rip off of the Yardbird's "The Nazz Are Blue". The entire performance is very "Yard-merizing" with the lead singer Dave Aguilar doing his best Mick Jagger impression.

I have never seen this footage at all--very cool.

CWB was an interesting band. Very much a real band, but in the studio they were maniupulated by the famed producer-songwriter Ed Cobb, who wrote "Tainted Love","Dirty Water" and "Sometimes Good Guys Don't Wear White", among others. The band didn't even play on many of their recordings, especially the more psychedelic stuff.

Their most famous song "Let's Talk About Girls" (covered by the Undertones)has a different singer entirely,Don Bennett, one who clearly sounds African-American.
