Song of the Week: Ronnie Self - Ain't I'm A Dog

Singer and songwriter Ronnie Self had what it took to be a star in the nascent days of Rock-n-Roll. The looks, the voice, the songs. But a reputation of unreliability and poor personal choices kept Ronnie Self locked into the role of a regional performer. He hailed from the Ozarks of Missouri and his records never strayed far from that area. From 1957, we present Self's second single, the curiously phrased, Ain't I'm A Dog

  1. My mom grew up with Ronnie. He stayed in the are most of his life. I met him a couple of times. He seemed okay guy but never really settled down, if you catch my drift.

  2. Seems to have lived up to the awkward term "ain't I'm a dog". Thanks for stopping by.
